The Clock
Leonardo created a clock very similar
to the ones we use today. I contains two seperate systems,
one for minutes, and the other for hours. Each had its own gears
and weight. Always striving for perfection and accuracy, it was important
to da Vinci to invent a clock that would tell the time with the best accuracy
possible to him in those days. Weight-driven mechanics were used
solely for clocks for a long time, but Leonardo da Vinci took this thinking
one step further and used it in many other inventions, the file cutter
for example. Other inventors of his time appreciated da Vinci's two
system clock, so that they also could use similar structuresin their own
inventions. Da Vinci wasn't just an inspiration to inventors of our
time, but he inspired his peers as well.
